Celebrating Life with Bigfoot Endurance
When I saw these growlers going through production in the studio, I just had to learn more about them! I connected with Evan Calvert via Instagram and asked him to share his story and the origin of the growlers. Here's what he had to say:
There's no better way to celebrate life than to go outside and test yourself physically, and then bask in the afterglow by relaxing with friends and family. That's the focus of Bigfoot Endurance - celebrating life.
We formed the group in 2012, after enjoying the challenge of our first few triathlons.
Now we participate in running, biking, and triathlon races all over the globe. No one in the group is especially fast, but that doesn't stop us from enjoying the festive atmosphere, the excitement, and the unique feeling that comes from being surrounded by a big group of people who are living in the "now".
We hope to capture this feeling at our second "annual" Bigfoot Search Party on July 16th. Picture a scavenger hunt, mixed with a field day, mixed with the Tour de France, mixed with the scene in Beauty and the Beast where Gaston is carrying a torch.
We're expecting about 30 people, and we'll be racing around on bikes in teams of 4, completing stages that include a balloon launch, a half-court shot, a frisbee toss, and a bean bag toss into a bucket attached to a helmet attached to a person's head.
After the winner has been decided, we'll all head to our favorite local tap house, The White Oak Tavern, to celebrate the day. Portland Growler Company hooked us up with some beautiful growlers to help us enjoy our favorite local craft brews (RAR Brewing, Red Shedman, and Manor Hill).
In addition to having fun, the purpose of the event is to raise money for research for Parkinson's, which affects several members of our group directly and indirectly.
Every day, the members of our group directly affected by Parkinson's inspire us to push ourselves to do the most we can physically and to enjoy every moment with friends and family - to celebrate life.
Follow the crew from Bigfoot Endurance on Instagram @BigfootEndurance and online at BigfootEndurance.com , or email them at BigfootEndurance@gmail.com. If you're interested in purchasing one of their growlers you can do so here, and 5% of the proceeds from all the gear on their page is donated directly to Parkinson's research.
