Collaborating with Walnut Studiolo

Portland Growler Company and Walnut Studiolo share a passion for hand crafting unique products and an affection for craft brews. Both companies create specialized products for the rapidly growing craft beer culture. It’s no surprise that they have collaborated to make The Leash, a supple leather handle for toting a growler of craft beer anywhere you want to go. Choose your favorite finish: black, dark brown or honey (which looks amazing with our gloss blue growlers).

Our friends at Walnut Studiolo use only high quality, English-style bridle leather, made from North American steers and tanned in St. Louis, Missouri. Bridle leather is durable enough for rigorous outdoor equestrian use, yet feels soft to the touch. The natural oils in our hands only enhance the look and feel over time, becoming softer with every use.Not familiar with Walnut Studiolo? Here's a little background on them for your reading pleasure:

Founder and designer, Geoff Franklin commuted by bike to his job as an architect in downtown Portland. As he rode several miles every day he was flooded with inspirations for new products to improve his ride. When he couldn’t find what he was looking for, he started making his own leather cycling products under the name Walnut Studiolo. Geoff and his wife Valerie have been running Walnut Studiolo for nearly five years now (they're celebrating the five year anniversary this year with their Gimme Five campaign- think new products + cool prizes). Their products are handmade in Geoff’s Portland, Oregon workshop and sold to discerning bicycle enthusiasts around the world. Geoff's even reconnected with his architecture roots and started making new leather drawer pulls for the home.

They say a picture is worth 1,000 words so check out their video to see just how they do what they do.
